The saw came with hardwood guide blocks, I think maple. I substituted these with Olsen Cool Blocks, which are spoken of highly. I observed at the Carter manner guides, but they were way out of my price range. I also substituted the tension hand wheel with a crank I bought from Amazon ($20). I originally bought the crank for my Harbor Freight 14” band saw, but it was a poor fit, in-conjunction with wouldn't work. It was made to work in Delta saws, or it does. I can now rapidly tension or de‐tension the blade with just a few cranks.
The Kreg band‐saw fence went on easily. The holes aligned perfectly, together with it obtainable no problems. It's a sturdy fence, but it does appear to deflect slightly when it's locked down. This might be worker error. I went with the Kreg over other offerings, because overall, it looked to have the finest reviews.
Next I replaced the on/off switch. Firstly I strained wiring up the new switch the similar way the elderly switch was, but it caused my breaker to pop when it was twisted on. With that, I gripped the multi meter I had unconventional from my high school electronics class 16 years before, also set out to figure out what was supposed to go where. An hour or so future, it was done. I don't know for definite that I wired it properly, but it goes on, the motor turns in the right way, along with the circuit breaker doesn't pop, so I must have become close. I had to substitute the metric mounting hardware that the Fractious switch came with standard hardware to appropriate the saw. Easy enough.
