How to Use a Band saw
Band saw cuts typically leave‐saw marks, so it’s upright practice to permit extra substantial for smoothing the advantage. Cutting on the outside edge of the line reduces the amount of substantial you have to eliminate. Though, accurately following the edge of a line—especially a curved line—takes practice. So till you’ve understood this skill, it’s finest to start far enough away to leave a bit of wood showing among the line and the saw Cerf. Remember: An oscillating‐spindle sander (or a sanding drum quieted in your drill press) is a band saw’s finest friend.
Cutting a contoured shape is easier if you first cut in to the streak along the curves and at the change points. Then, when you saw the shape, the waste falls away when you spread one of these relief cuts. This frees the blade to endure and effectively lessens each outline to a series of short, handy cuts.
